Fennel is a cool-season crop in Southern California, typically at the farmers market from fall through spring. The candle, of course, is in season year-round.

I love when the home reflects the same values as the plate: simple ingredients, made with care. A 100% beeswax candle shaped like fennel is exactly that, and it makes a beautiful centerpiece.

Dinner party centerpieces, low-tox homes, kitchen shelves, fall and winter tables, gifts for home cooks, and anyone who knows fennel deserves more love.

Place on a stable, heat-resistant plate before lighting to collect melted wax. Trim the wick to about 1/4 in before each use. Keep away from drafts, children, pets and flammable materials, and never leave a burning candle unattended.

Store in a cool, dry place away from heat and direct sun.

Melisa Home is a one-person, small-batch candle studio that began in 2020 with a single candle in Ukraine, and is now being rebuilt in California. There's no factory: every candle is hand-poured individually, to order, in small batches, using molds from small independent makers and the maker's own finishing and color techniques.
