Farm Box Delivery in Los Angeles: How to Choose

The short answer: the best farm box delivery in Los Angeles is the one that matches how you actually eat, delivers on days that work for you, and is honest about where your food comes from. Market Mama delivers seasonal farm boxes, pasture-raised heirloom eggs, raw local honey, Häsi sourdough and market bouquets across Los Angeles every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, from Southern California farmers and growers we know and trust.

What to look for in an LA farm box

  • Who's choosing your food. A good farm box comes from people with real relationships with the farmers and makers behind it. Meet ours on our Our Farmers page.
  • Delivery days that fit your week. Market Mama delivers three days a week: Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
  • The right size. A box that's too big turns into food waste. Pick by how often you cook, not by the biggest number.
  • Flexibility. Look for one-time orders and subscriptions, so you can try it before you commit.
  • More than produce. Eggs, bread and honey from the same trusted sources save a second grocery run.

Where our food comes from

  • Eggs: pasture-raised heirloom eggs from small Southern California producers, including Lily's Eggs, Nonna's Eggs and Bellacienda Farms, from hens fed a soy-free, corn-free diet. They arrive unwashed with the natural bloom intact.
  • Honey: Bill's Bees, producing raw honey in Los Angeles County since 1991. Unheated and unfiltered.
  • Bread: all of our bread is Häsi Original wild-fermented sourdough, made in Los Angeles with organic wheat flour, house-milled rye, spelt and khorasan wheat.
  • Rice: organic California Calrose from Lopes Family Farms, a California rice farm dating back to 1911.
  • Produce: seasonal fruits and vegetables from Southern California farmers and growers we've chosen to work with.

Frequently asked questions

Which days does Market Mama deliver?

Every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, between 4 and 8 PM, across much of Los Angeles. You can order online any time.

Do you deliver to my neighborhood?

Enter your ZIP code at checkout to confirm delivery for your address, or see our Los Angeles delivery page.

Do I have to subscribe?

No. You can order once, or set up a farm box subscription.

Is a farm box the same as a CSA?

Not quite. A CSA usually ties you to a single farm for a full season. A farm box like ours draws from several Southern California farms and lets you order when you want. Read more in CSA Box vs. Farm Box: What's the Difference?

Is everything organic?

Not all of it is certified, and we'd rather be upfront about that. Organic certification is expensive, and some of the small farms we buy from can't afford it. We choose growers we trust and favor those with natural growing practices. Because we build each box around what's in season and at its best that week, exact contents change from week to week.

Can I send a farm box as a gift?

Yes. The Mini Market Box is made for giving, or choose any box and enter their address at checkout (within our delivery area). You can also send a Market Mama gift card.
